Boring
When we say “boring” we mean “what everyone else talks about”:
Discovery and Review Features
- Automatic name normalization — groups alternate email addresses and spellings into one correspondent, to reduce the
number and complexity of searches and improve visibility into the corpus. We also allow users to manually group radically
different names that our algorithm doesn't detect.
- Enter external events to provide context and focus discovery
- Save and retrieve particular searches
- Move back and forth through recent search history
- View discussion threads, and apply tagging, foldering, and annotation information to entire threads
at once. We even display placeholders for “missing” email messages that weren't provided
- Tag, folder, and add comments, and easily retrieve documents by any of those criteria
- Graph email results in real time on an interactive timeline
- Search individual document fields like subject, body, and attachment type
- Use advanced search operators for wildcard, proximity and phrase searches
- Mass tagging, foldering, commenting, and annotation of documents
- Arbitrary document allocation. Assign documents to specific users — who are only allowed to see documents they've
been assigned. Allocations can be based on whatever search criteria you want, including topics, custodian, dates,
and correspondents.
Scalability
Our search architecture supports corpus sharding — that is, splitting a corpus of documents into many smaller
chunks, and searching them at once. This allows us to scale to very large data sets by simply adding off the shelf commodity
hardware. This is the same technique used by all major search engines, including Yahoo! and Google.
Processing Capability
IT-Discovery can process all common input formats, including:
- Microsoft PST, MSG
- Lotus NSF
- Loose file types like DOC, XLS, PPT, etc
- Standard mail formats like mbox, EML, and RFC822
- Concordance and Summation load files
Export Formats
Exporting is easy — simply select the documents you'd like to export and a format, and download the
results. We offer a variety of export formats, including:
- Concordance
- EML/RFC822
- PDF
- Native document
- Plain text
- XML
Reporting
Using our metadata export format, reports — such as privilege logs and production summaries — can be
generated on the fly for any set of documents.
